We had a Quiet Time seminar given by Simon Flinders who gave it at the church he ministers at (St Thomas's North Sydney). Once a semester at SMBC we have something called a "Practical Ministries Afternoon" which aren't compulsory but are helpful in applying to our personal Christian lives. So some I've been to in the past include one on discipleship and another on pornography. Both were extremely helpful and this one didn't disappoint either. I did expect to come out of it feeling guilty but instead came out feeling refreshed and even more motivated to spend time with Jesus.
‘See to it that sitting at the Saviour’s feet is not neglected, even though it be under the spacious pretext of doing him service. The first thing for our soul’s health, the first thing for His glory and the first thing for our own usefulness, is to keep ourselves in perpetual communion with the Lord Jesus, and to see that the vital spirituality of our religion is maintained over and above everything else in the world.’ (Spurgeon)
I'll be sharing the seminar with my cell group in the next few weeks so please pray for that as we encourage each other to be spending more time with Jesus because He is the one we long for and desire with our whole being.
